I tried searching the archives for this... didn't find it.Has anyone mounted additional speakers under the stern rail seats? If so, how did you route the wires back to the stereo inside the cabin?I have a 2003 Hunter 260.
I recall some discussion on this before here at HOW and someone has done it - and I think it was a 26/260. Maybe they will chime in, if not it should be in the archives - just finding it in the problem...
Drilled a hole in the tube the runs straight to the flange that bolts to the boat. Then drilled a hole in the boat in the middle of the machine screwsfor a passage way into the tube. Ran a small gauge wire .020 up the tube then hooked it with a thicker wire .085 bent like a hook to pull the thinner wire through the hole. Mounted the box speakers from West Marine under each seat for the stereo and a powerhorn speaker under the starboard seat for the VHF it can actually be heard while the engine is running now. Might be some pictures in the photo forum I forget.
on my 29.5 and was successful. CD Player is mounted on the bulkhead aft of the v-berth. I ran the speaker wire from the CD down to the PVC pipe conduit, through to the aft berth, through the tank storage area at the stern, and up to each of the stern corner lockers. I drilled through the deck and led wire aroung the stern rail and up to the seats where i mounted the speaker(s).Good luck, Chet
That is a great place to mount the speakers!! I mounted the speaker brackets to the stern perch seats and then changed the large knobs to allen head machine screws to make them much more difficult to remove. The wiring is run through the ss railing through a hole small drilled through deck. The wiring is then run to the nav station where the cd player is.
