I would like to install two Bose 131 marine speakers in my Hunter 240. Anyone have any recommendation where is a good spot?
Makes all the sense in the world. To me there are no speakers I would put holes in my cockpit for! Put em in the cabin and turn um up! Thats probably why you are having trouble getting a response here. Chief
Thanks I'm already looking for additional options.Speaker Locations
Most folks "know" where they want to put their speakers down below. I'm just contrary:

I agree with Chief, on our C25 they were only down below, cranked up.
Yes. I made sure the stereo system is one of great sound at low volume. ThanksYou may not know me but I know the boat all too well as I sold the most of this line as a dealer. I second what Chief said not to install them outside but if you do, they do make outside marine speakers that are sound proof but I would not suggest the big ones or what I call ghetto blasters and be careful of placement so not to interfere with seating by sailors. I have seen them below the cockpit seating on the walls or on the back transom area. However, I would suggest strongly to avoid future leaks to place them inside. Remember you want to enjoy life, not loud music as most of us and I would think you would too, would want to get away from the craziness of this world which I would low soft music with my better half and a glass of wine.
Thanks. Very helpfulSpeaker Locations

You're right. It just happens that my wife comes from power boat world and I from Hobbie Cats. Trying to find common ground. You're helping us learn. ThanksMany of us sailors consider outside speakers a power boat thing. Chief
Another option. ThanksWhy is everyone bashing speakers in the cockpit? Here. I'm gonna say it. I have speakers in my cockpit and in my cabin. And I like it that way. There. I said it.
You're definitely the man. ThanksWhy is everyone bashing speakers in the cockpit? Here. I'm gonna say it. I have speakers in my cockpit and in my cabin. And I like it that way. There. I said it.
Definitely Ben.It is worth stating that whatever needs to be done to allow spouses and children to come on the boat and enjoy sailing is worthwhile. If the family likes the boat for whatever reason, they want to go sailing. The more they want to go, the more we get to go. If that takes speakers in the cockpit, that's easy. I use the Bluetooth ones so I don't have to drill or run wires.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wa8LpP-GlQgI agree with Kermit, I just enjoyed my cockpit speakers last night on a sunset cruise just me and my dog. I have weather proof speakers sealed around the edges with a flexible gasket that was provided. In four years never leaked a drop.
