I still have family living in Ct. I get up that way every now and again. It seems like its more for funerals than anything as of late. Getting old ain't fun. I'm fighting it though. The wife wants to get me on some kind of diet to loose my gut. It has taken me years to get looking this good, I tell her. And yes, my name is Skip and I'm from Ct. My Mom knew I'd be a skipper. Boating family, don't ya know. I was conceived on a Chris Craft. Born in a wooden dingy in July. No fiberglass back then. Keep it up, Ctskip

tools and parts
I keep a 26" x 10 x 10 plastic toolbox under the cockpit and in it I have a number of typical tools previously mentioned for servicing and repairing most items on the boat, screwdriver, pliers, hand drill, pop riveter, sockets, multimeter etc, as well as spare parts. My box is getting so full that I am considering keeping the tools in one box and spare parts in another.

I have found that tool rolls with pockets for each
item is a good way to keep track of my tools. I tend to get what I need and put it down when I no longer need it and reach for another. So when it is time to clean up, counting tools is helpful.

i have to agree with ross on this one...i have a couple that are made of what i believe is old tent canvas....olive drab and kind of waxy....they seem to help cut down on the rust and i can immediately see what is missing...i have tried tool boxes, both plastic and metal and still find the roll up canvas ones the best. i also use what i believe is called a bucket buddy, it fits over a 5 gallon bucket and provides compartments around the bucket while allowing you to use the bucket to put stuff in. it can be attached to a line and be hoisted aloft when needed. for extra security i attach each tool to its own line and to the bucket buddy. i also have a multi compartment ditty bag for all the screws, fittings, etc.

I wasn't born in a dingy. I feel bad that I even said it. Please accept my apology. I just got carried away in the moment and it made for good writing. The part about me being conceived on a Chris is the truth. Just the being born in a dingy wasn't . So please allow me to ask for your forgiveness. It will make me feel better knowing that I corrected something that was not true about myself. I don't make up stories unless I'm being fed one. The one I use is the same one over and over . If I'm being fed a BS line, I reply . Did I ever tell you about the time my Dad filled in for the Pope? That usually stops the BS . So again, let me say that I am truly sorry for putting out something that wasn't true about myself. I wasn't born in a dingy. Now I can sleep with myself knowing I corrected a wrong.
