Maybe it IS sensational weather

So far today at my home in the mountains we have had the most rain (for one day) in ten years, the highest wind gusts, and we are looking at the biggest dump of snow this year overnight now that the rain has stopped. Nope, it's not too different from a Noreaster or a strong tropical depression in Florida, but we don't see this combination of weather very often in this part of the country. Yes, the TV folks are having a good time with it, but there is a certain reality to weather here in the winter. And, I haven't been able to check on my boat in Alameda, but I left it battened down and with extra heavy dock lines and fenders in place. I do not expect to have any problems when I get there. Ever the optimist...

BrianD, with global warming the weather will be more

extreme and more difficult to predict. That's my opinion.

Brian I agree with you Al Gore is absolutely correct.

I am a little less optimistic that he is. Personally I think it is too late already. CO2 in the atmosphere has already reached the critical no return levels. Political games that are being played with CO2 emissions credits being bought and sold are only a small indication of how little our leaders take the seriousness of the situation. Tropical forest continue to be removed with out control. China's carbon emissions are compare to our own as approaching or passing. All fueled by our need for more for less. China is still accelerating their emissions and is not likely undue any of their "progress". As far as my predicting the weather I look at NOAA, Wundergound take my best guess and stick my head out of the window. If it looks good I go sailing. I have attached a video of a day on the water that had gale warnings out. The news was announcing 80 mph winds. In fact you can see the Malibu smoke streaming down the mountain where the winds were high, but notice how they billow upward when they hit the ocean. Judging from the number of sailboats in the video I am not the only one who questions gale warnings. Frank http://youtube.com/watch?v=6UZtdD7Zifs

that's the second time since the end of hurricane season...

...that we've had hurricane-force winds far north of where hurricanes are supposed to happen here on the West Coast. The rednecks can roll on the floor laughing all they want, but that doesn't change the fact that two semis were blown on their sides today trying to cross a bridge here in the bay area. Climate change is here. Now. No amount of ridiculing Al Gore is going to change that.

I was being facisious about AG...

In my opine, he's an i... wait, no politics here. Sorry if I started something. CO2 in our atmosphere is what keeps us alive. No CO2, we no long exist. Anyway... wind blowing hard at the house now. Blew down my HF antenna. Oh well. Time for a wire antenna, again. Hasn't started raining but I am sure that will be here shortly. You guys have a nice weekend.

Worth Reading - Not!

Take what the author of the article in Peggy Halls link says with a grain of salt. Steven Milloy, the author of the article in the link, is one of those authors that comes under the heading of "paid-for punditry", also known as spinning science propaganda, and writes articles along this same vein, that is, questioning Global Warming. He has apparently taken money from ExxonMobile and Phillip Morris for some of his work. Fox News should provide disclaimers with articles they print which provide full disclosure and indicate the authors apparent conflict of interest. I was unaware that Fox "News" reports articles from these type of authors but now that I am it really makes me suspect their "reporting". There are a number of credible scientific reports available about the catastrophic Global Warming process that is taking place so I wouldn't put a lot of credence in what this self-professed "science author" Milloy writes.

Global warming

Keep in mind, the same "Scientific Experts" were preaching Global Cooling in the 1970's. All scare tactics to achieve an agenda. It's aerosol, it's coal and vehicle emissions, it's freon, now CO2, whats next?
