The fuel tank in our 1985 Catalina 30 has developed a small leak. I would like to replace it with a plastic tank. The tanks available through West Marine,Defender, and BoatU.S. all have the fuel fill molded into the tank in a straight fitting as opposed to the 90 degree needed to fit. I would like to keep the tank size as close to original as possible and not go with a lower profile tank just to allow for clearance of the hose. I would appreciate any input from Catalina owners.

Try...

...Catalina. One of the great things about our boats is that the manufacturer is STILL in business. Our experience is that their prices are very competitive, too.

Been there, call Catalina

My 1984 Catalina 30 had a small leak. Took out tank, cleaned it, had it welded, put back in, fueled up....another leak. Hand pumped out, removed tank, cleaned it, had welded, told to put on Newspaper with some gasoline in it (passes thru smaller holes). Yep, more small pin holes. Could see it looking in with flashlite held to bottom. Thought about remedy, called Catalina. New aluminum tank was inexpensive and original fit. Aluminum is now more than twice as thick as original. Corrosion due to impurities and water in bottom of tank. Clean out water annually. Yes, Catalina is still there and competitive pricing (plus it'll fit!) Jack Swords
