Does anyone have a good source for Attwood Springlift gas springs? I need an SL2-20-1 for the ice box lid on our H336. I found one a couple of years ago, but it has already worn out and I cannot find a similar replacement. I've scoured the internet, and this particular model doesn't show up anywhere. It has blade ends, is 15" extended and 9.5" compressed, 20 lb force.

You might want to try a simpler spring hatch holder. No moving internal parts to wear out.

Try your local RV dealer. We found the exact shocks we needed for our boat at an RV dealer, same manufacturer, 75% of the marine cost and they came with a kit to adapt to three different mounts.

Got mine from either defender or WM. Both ends sockets i.s.o. blade. So I bought the flat gas strut support (ball edge). Intend to mount this support on the existing one opposite the pin (for blade). Important things is getting the gas spring poundage right. Earlier, I jump at a chance to get next higher poundage 'cos it has blade ends. The prolem is icebox hatch keeps popping up, won't stay close.

Hadn't thought about the lid popping up from too much force.. doh! The original spec struts do seem to be available as a 'universal' type.. Although it doesn't seem that Attwood makes them any more. Here is one place that has the exact spec struts; 15" extended, 9.5" compressed, 20lb force, blade ends:

AutoGasSpringStore.com

Click on the 'Universals' button and type in the specs.. comes up with #21434 at about $20 a pop :)

Cheers,
Brad

Found them. www.backtoboating.com. They're a distributor for Attwood. I swore I had never heard of the site when I stumblied across it, but when I went to checkout, it already had all my personal information as I already had an account. They are apparantly the source I found two years ago and then lost. I've properly bookmarked them now. I bought a two-pack this time so I'll have a ready spare. Sure seems like they ought to last more than two years.

I didn't speak to anyone specifically but I checked both the store and the Hunter parts listings and could not find anything that would work without requiring that I also replace the spring mounts. All the SBO store appears to carry is the socket type lift springs, and not the blade type.
