Anyone ever replace the drapery in your boat? I am looking to add some lost drapes but am having a problem finding the material and tracks/slides. I checked here, SBO, and didn't see anything.

Anyone have any specific links? Thanks

Real men use duct tape and cardboard...

you can find the hardware cheaper at RV supply stores, material at a fabric store. Tim

The Admiral made some for the V-Berth and Head

from some plasticized fabric that she picked up at JoAnn's Fabrics. They seem to work fine, no mildew or anything. We put the seams together with ironing glue strips. It took about 10 minutes per curtain.

Another option

Peek-a Boo shutters are clean & sleek, if you like the look.

window curtains

Brian, My 1985 catalina had the orginal curtains they were in real bad shape even the plastic hangers broke apart when I took them down. The admiral went to a fabric store and found some material with a sail boat theme.Looks great its white with sail boat on it. I removed a screw on each side of the window and secured a window hook on each side with the same screws. It only has one rod at the top, the curtain does hang straight down instead of being tight against the window because it does not have a bottom rod. But it searves our purpose and above all it was simple and it looks great, she made these curtains up in one afternoon

Ship-Shades

Check out Ship-Shades. I do not know if Hunter is still using them as an OEM vendor but their stuff is not bad and reasonably priced.

You can contact Hunter Marine and see what they are using too.

Also, don't forget to check out the Chandlery.

Is this what you are looking for?

Try GoWesty. They are the only ones that have them if they are the ones.
Mine were made of a plain white cotton fabric with an ugly brown trim. I replaced the trim with some blue that matches the recovered cushions. Really brightened up the caabin. As usual I bought more than I needed. I can send it to you if you'd like.

Yes...

I guess I meant curtains. I tried searching on curtains but found drapes. Semantics in a way, I guess.

I'll check out the links tomorrow. Played a round of golf this evening and man am I tired. Thanks again for the links and comments.

Cooling or to make Purdy?

If it is to reflect some heat and darken the interior of the boat, SWMBO came up with a great solution.

Take a automotive sun screen (metalic type is best) cut to fit window.
get some siding insulation (blue or pink foam) and use the sun screen as a pattern
sandwitch the foam between the sun screen and some sunbrella. Edge and stitch.
We put them up with suction cups and it keep the boat cooler during the day, and we do not have to wake up at 5 am when the sun comes up.

Two Sources

Try Sailrite.com or SailmakersSupply.com. Both have items I've not found anywhere else in one way or another.

It is to bring the boat

back up to "completeness" if you know what I mean. I have curtains on my ports but the one that is missing is the draw curtain between the main cabin and aft states room. I just want to replace that one and be done.

I checked the links this morning and the Sailright link had what I was looking for. Don't know how I missed that one during my search. Thanks.

Marcia, I may be a little dense but what would be

wrong with drapery fabric from Jo-Ann's if it didn't need dry cleaning? any solution dyed acrylic fabric should serve for the windows on any south facing exposure.
