I took Joy Sea out for a daysail, and my 25 year old Datamarine depth sounder worked fine for depths greater than 10 feet. Below that, I get random numbers. Tried the shallow depth adjustment, but sounder indicates 2.5 feet only. I will go for a new sounder following your input (thanks) unless anyone has an idea for a fix of the problem as I have described it.

We had them repair the "guts" of our depthsounder last year, good work, good prices.
The transducers usually don't fail, the "boards" in the display go, and they'll repair it for a lot less than you'd spend for new.
Ours is now 21 years old (OK, the first 19 were for the old one!
).
