Hey everyone, To all those who have been following my constant questions, I apologize for being such a bother, because you are all probably starting to think I have no idea what's going on. Heh. I assure you it isn't true! I've got a number of books, a few people helping me out in person, and the net to fall back on. I just have a lot of minor questions about diffrent items specific to my boat. Toss in some of the misinformation that I have been given and you can understand why I'm a bit confused. I was told the whisker pole was the boomvang for example. I'm looking at it, and thinking to myself 'this can't be a boomvang..this isn't how it's supposed to look...and how the hell does it work if it is!'. From all I've read, I understand things like trimming the sails, using the halyards, stays, boomvang and everything else to control the sail shape, tacking, jibing, etc. I understand all the principles, just not the specifics. When I went out to see how it all worked with the previous owner and his friend, I was too busy paying attention to what they were doing right and learning how to operate the boat to notice what they weren't doing. Now that I'm cleaning up the boat and looking at everything closely, I've got questions. It just seems that there's more hardware then there should be I guess. I'm wondering if there's something I'm missing or not using properly. It's kind of like when you work on your car and end up with two extra bolts and a nut. For the life of you, you can't remember where they go or what they were for. It just messes with my head to have extra equipment on this boat that seems to serve no purpose. So again, thanks for all the help, and everyone please just bear with all my questions. You've all been a greater help then you probably know! Sorry for some of my piss poor spelling in some of my posts as well...I know how annoying that can be...just was too busy to proof read. Josh

The only stupid question...

...is the one that isn't asked. Cheers, Bob

Josh, I was not trying to infer that you were a pain! I thought I would give you some ideas as to answering some of your questions. Sometimes a question over laps another sailing basics. I was trying to give you resources to get a bigger picture of how things work. Sometimes it hard to see why responses here don't seem quite right. Sometimes a simple question could take the the same ammount of typing that a short novel would require. Thus sometimes you are only getting partial info with the assumption that you already understand most of the subject. Again, don't stop asking questions. The answers here teach all of us! r.w.landau

Keep up the questions, I'm learning too

Josh, You have brought questions that I haven't thought to ask. I agree with r.w. landau, that you should keep asking. Several other people may learn from the resident experts... Thanks, Dream Chaser 1974 O'day 27
