..got their cerws ready to start preping the boat for the upcoming season?? We just got hit with some last minute snowfall, but this weekend we start preping the bottom to spray. Damn, I can't wait to get back in the water. I'm just sooo landsick!!

My boat has been out of the water since September for the hurricane. I've actually spent the night on it while on the hard, dreaming of sailing. We're about 2 weeks from being in the water, just waiting to paint the bottom. Come on dreams...... And to add insult to injury Waterworld is on the SciFi channel right now.... Jim S/V Java

snow falling as we speak in Boston. Last weekend, I snuck into my convered hunter 27 to just take a peek and think about spring projects. The earliest launch in my bay -Cape Cod is usually the end of May. btw...has anyone used a spray cleaner on the interior woodwork (bulkhead panels) and then oiled them with one of those furniture / paneling oils?

...Waterworld too. The box kite idea is great except he was headed "upwind" when he launched it. Too bad these directors don't consult sailors when they make their films.

Our skipper is way ahead of his crew
Our skipper has been working on the interior and removing the old bottom paint and epoxy over the last month. We also attended a sail trim seminar sponsored by the sailing association. This weekend, the association is sponsoring a tactics and rules seminar. Afterwards, we are planning to work on fairing the bottom. Our skipper has also sent our some emails talking about what he wants to accomplish this season, how the boat work is going, and some tentative ideas on crew positions. We are essentially a new crew and we have to learn his boat. It will be very different for me since I've only race on one other boat with a completely different crew. But I'm excited enough to go out and hold the epoxy bucket for a few hours. Markdb

Crew Meetings...
We have been doing crew meetings throught the cold winter months. This is in addition to attending seminars. We have a new crew, and have been learning from each other, as well as sailing on a new boat. There is a wealth of info out on the web in the form of articles and instruction. I have filled two CD's for all the crew to read and discuss. I am looking forward to the snow melting and getting back on the water. We launch in 38 days! Steve

I like to do all the work my self on the boat. I make it a personal thing and head up on slow work days and will sand for 3-4 hours and then head for home. I feel it is up to me to have the boat in top notch condition. I think if I have the best prepaired boat with the best sail's I can afford, the smoothest bottom and the right gear then we will do well. If we are off our game a little then the boat prep will make up for our faults. I was at the boat yesterday sanding and doing some touch up on the keel. I was also able to check out the bottoms of some of my toughest competitors. After looking I feel pretty good about my progress and the condition of my boats bottom. Sure glad they don't visit this site. I had sanded my bottom last year but want to make it the nicest bottom in the yard. Cliff
