No, 18 is not too young. He'll need to take the ASVAB battery of tests - and there are books to help prep for them.

Thanks for all of the great information. He is still talking about it so I think we'll go see a recruiter in the spring. We are going to Key West for Christmas so I may inquire about visiting the CG station there while we are down.
