We just wanted to take a couple friends out sailing on the bay...
Reefed for the winds and getting some choppy whitecaps, one passenger got sea sick...
She wanted to hang over the rail, but I refused for safety reasons and told her just to let it go in the cockpit
...we would wash it out after anchoring in Clipper Cove
After some lunch in the calm of the cove, I thought she might do better...
But she asked to be dropped here at Treasure Island where her boyfriend could pick her up -the Bay Bridge crosses the Island
She's the one sitting up and waving -apparently relieved that she doesn't have to sail home!
This is just a gratuitous leg shot of my dear Mária...
...now back to our story...
Me, Mária and our remaining passenger -in the red & blue windbreaker, headed back toward Berkeley with improving, late afternoon conditions
We all thought despite having to leave a passenger behind that the only downside would be cleaning the mud off the anchor
...wrong...
Poor Mária slipped on the dock and took a very dangerous fall
After the requisite 4 hours of hospital time, I tucked her into bed and returned to the harbor to close up the boat around midnight
...this was a painful reminder that a little slip can alter your day in ways you can't even imagine!
...let's all be careful out there!
