Thank you for your answers on my previous article for main trim.That were very helpfull.May I ask some more questions as,1)Last thing of your main sail control is SLOT, which I don't have any idea of it..2)The line that goes through the leech is leechline.What you call the line on foot of the jib,'footline' or ??And to loose it on breeze and tension in light weather is the correct way to trim? 3)Does batten tension(by loosing or tighting the pocket covers) make a role on trim?4)In your trim quiz,you say 'top batten can show slightly to weather'.Does it mean to windward or to sky or something else?Thank you again for that useful forum.(And please don't forget that,English is not my native language)

Ersin: The Slot is the area between the main and the jib and is a very important adjustment. Too tight a slot and the area becomes "chocked". Too loose and you loose power.There is no name for the line on the foot of the jib. On the main it is called a bolt rope.Battens don't really have a big role in trim but they are adjusted using the leechline. The purpose of the battens is to support the leech of the sail. The luff gets its rigidity from the mast and the foot gets its rigidity from the boom."Pointing slightly to weather " means pointing to windward.You pose some interesting and common qiestions. You should consider purchasing the "The Sail trim Users Guide" which is sold by Sailboatowners.com. 99% of your questions would be answered by that publication, which is written in plain and simple English. You'd love the book.
