I just created several albums in my profile showing before and after pictures of my restore and some stuff in between. I added pic descriptions where I thought applicable. I know I luv to peruse sail boat pics and especially those of work being done. Please have a look.

John

Beautiful work on the restoration.

I was curious to know how the Collinite works on the textured no-skid. Our 9.2 has a lot of deeply textured no skid forward and by the mast. I've been trying to figure out how to renew it without repainting if possible. It sounds like the products you used did a great job.

Thanks! I set out to not repaint any gelcote whatsoever if possible and so far haven't needed to. I wouldn't say my non-skid on top of the cabin was deeply textured. Kind of suttle bumpiness. For that the Collinite went on easy and came off easy. It gave it a nice rich deep look. Very pleased with it and it holds up well in the FL sun too. The decking non-skid on the gang planks and forward by the bow have a much different texture with lots of cracks and crevices and i didn't use it on that. At this moment its bare and I've been wondering what to try and preserve it with.

I should also detail how I cleaned and removed the oxidation from all of the non-skid. I used an orbital sander with a hook and loop pad. On ebay i found a 5" hook and loop brush with a stiff 3/4" bristle which are normally used for carpet or upholstery cleaning.
I used the brush to work in heavy duty marine rubbing compound from 3M. The white gelcote came out super white and the tan non-skid decking came out really clean too.

Thanks pateco!
I cruised your site in great detail. Always looking to see how others fix and restore things. Always learning. Really nice looking boat and good work too. I had to replace my icebox lid as well but not the icebox itself, thank God. I still need to get the dried up, rock hard garden hose off the drain the previous owner put on there. Its way up under and can only get my hand in there to feel around. I think tonight i'll get back at that. I'll monitor your site to watch your progress. Thanks for the link.

I use woody wax on the nonskid. Easy to apply and keeps them clean for at least a month.

I've been doing a lot of electrical work but I did install new flooring, some more teak trim inside as well as the original stripes on the outside. Please see my latest album
