Report on the diesel is good I think, although I can't really take any credit for fixing anything. Yesterday morning it started up, ran for about 30 seconds and quit, started again, ran about a minute and quit. So I did the whole nine yards again. Checked everything I could think of, then bled the system, point by point all the way to the injector pump. It hasn't missed a beat since. Think there are just haints on board with us. Yesterday was a wonderful sailing day, although a little on the cool side. We were on a close reach all day, 10 - 15 knots, and had boat speed, (GPS) of 7 to 8.4 knots pretty regularly. Today a totally different story, just snotty all morning and then it rained. So we quit early, pulled into a marina at Solomons Island and tied up. Fueled up, although only needed 7 gallons, not bad. Had a good meal, and once again met some nice and friendly fellow boaters, heading south. By the time we hit the ICW in Norfolk, should be a regular convoy. The forecast for tomorrow doesn't look too good, calling for gusts to 35 out of the NW. At least in the right direction, so we will probably just hang the jib out and let her rip, as long as we can. Really want to make Norfolk in two more days. Am attaching a pic of the boat, for those interesed. Not much else around here to look at, unless you like high priced real estate.

You can always watch the Navy

playing with their toys. Pax River Naval Air Station is just across the river. This is also where they trained the landing craft operators for island invasions in the pacific during world war two.

Snow in the mountains ...

NOAA was showing snow in the mountains just west of you. That northwest wind may be pushing you along but it sure has to be chilly! We're hoping all is well! How are the waves? They must be marching down the bay.

next step

You probably already left, but you next stop will probably be at Norfork. There is a marina there with dinosaurs. You can anchor there for free. The walk to the grocery store is about a mile or more through a low to rough neighborhood. From there, you can take either the dismal swamp route or the other way. We took the dismal swamp. It follows a road, so if you break down, you might be able to thumb a ride to get parts. Not sure of the other way. If you see Sums or other Navy ships coming and going, you will also see armed CG and Navy chase boats who will keep any boat a good distance away. Mind them. The seas build up just before Norfolk which we attributed to the ocen swells coming in. The 43'er I was on held it well, but make sure everyting is whee it should be. Have fun. Looking for the next post.
