Sole replacement?

A couple of the teak and holly planks of my cabin sole have had some rot and are pretty weak. Most are just fine. Has anyone found a supplier of similar material of similar appearance. I plan to pull all of the sole this winter to refinish, so I'm not too worried about a perfect match, as long as the general pattern is the same. Any ideas? Thanks

You betcha

We had the same problem with the sole in the v-berth. Call hunter in Alachua, FL and ask for Mike in retail sales. They sell the teak/holly. Remember though, when you order it (sold by square foot) you draw them a little diagram so that the shape it is cut for shipping is oriented with the holly stripes going in the right direction! If you have a 3 X 4 foot piece ordered, for instance, make sure the planks run the same direction you are cutting and fitting for.

Try Fawcett's

Mark, Fawcett's in Annapolis sells new teak and holly sole boards. They have some in stock and can order other sizes. Larry

Replaced mine last spring!

Mark- I replaced my sole last spring and it wasn't as difficult as I thought is was going to be. Hunter sells the piece for it which is precut for the 28.5. It costs $300 plus shipping. I ordered mine through Tidewater in Havre De Grace and they ended up picking up the freight when they put it on one of their trucks with their boats. It took a little longer but saved some cash. The unit is gorgeous and comes with the bilge covers as well. It's a pretty close match but there are a few areas that need to be manipulated, shaved or drilled in another location. Also, it comes in one piece and it will not fit through the hatch even though they say it will but it won't. I even took off the cover above the hatch and it still didn't make it. You have to cut in half along one of the holly stripes. You can't even tell that I cut it. One last suggestion is to buy all three pieces so that they match. It's not a big deal but it's a different piece of teak than the older pieces. If I can answer any questions or show you mine I'd be more than happy to. I think you have my email but here it is if you need it. leahcime@aol.com Michael Mathis Annapolis, MD
