Our solar panel is fixed to the pushpit, and is kind of in the way. Has anyone installed a solar panel to their Yacht? If so where was it installed, and how, and how did you run the wiring. Was it worth the effort.

Unisolar 32 mounted on bimini frame

Doesn't seem to be a way to include a picture in a reply, so I'll create a new post called "Panel on Bimini".

Siemens 10 watt

Hi I have a 10 watt Siemens mounted on the mast crutch at the stern of my 23.5. I fabricated a mount out of a stainless steel fishing rod holder that was slipped over the top of the crutch. In retrospect though, I think one of the heavy duty ball type mounts sold by West Marine for mounting instruments would be even better (and cheaper). Works great, I've never had to charge the battery in the two years since the pv panel was installed. The panel is up and out of the way and I can point it in any direction and angle thats necessary. Hope this helps Alan Long

flexible solar panel

We purchased an 11 watt unisolar flexible panel that is hooked up to charge the battery through the adapter plug. (Looks like a plug for a cigarette lighter). It works great and keeps our battery topped off. The nice thing about a flexible panel is that it can be secured about anywhere on the boat and then removed and stored in the cabin when not in use. We also have a Seimens solar panel that is the solid type. This panel came with our boat when we purchased it and the controller was damaged. Until we replace the controller we are not going to use the Seimens panel because we don't want to take a chance on overcharging our second battery. Hope this helps. Sincerely, Monte Brown
