Anyone install several hundred watts of solar power on a 34? I'm going to put a bimini together w/ the panels between the split back stay. Any experience?Brad'at'gmail.com
I just purchased a solar panel to charge my #1 battery in place of my wind generator. The problem is placement. I currently have two large panels attached to my davits and there is no more space. I looked at the bimini but thought it might interfere with the the use of the bimini as we often choose to sail without it in place. Am currently trying to locate a bracket that will attach to my wind generator pole if no ideas regarding attachment to bimini are generated.
Here's a link to the vendor where we purchased our panels. It gives all the specs you need (including dimensions) for various panels.http://www.svhotwire.com/solar_modules.htmlAnthem is a 1985 Hunter 40 which is the bigger sistership to your 34. The panel mounting can be much the same.
Rick-I already have the panels, and am trying to figure out the best way to mount them. Can you send/post pictures of the details of the bimini structure please?I hadn't thought of mounting them abeam behind the back stay as you did, and I like it. What size SStubing was used?Cheers- Bradgeobartman'AT'gmail.com
panels on the outside quarter of his top pushpit rail, one on each side. He can rotate them up or down for maximum affect and he seems quite happy with them. He has a Pacific Seacraft Creelock 34.Terry
