Just wondering what most are buying for solar panels; what sort of warranty, durability problems and loss of yield over lifetime. I will be buying somewhere between 100 and 220 watts depending on size & weight. All information appreciated brian

When I add solar I will be driving over to the East coast and picking up my panel to save money in shipping. I plan to buy a 250W panel from Emarine systems.

Same here

I have 2- 195 watt panels that I got same place as sailm8 and at least
a dozen more others in PG got them the same place and they were very helpful
with a charge controller and they also carry much more and call them and tell them what you want to do and they can help you with choice of solar panels.
Maybe you and sailm8 can car pool.

Thank you gentlemen…. I will check with those folks…. I am concerned about weight, output, warranty and any erosion of output over their lifetime…. More discussion and a beer or two may be in order, perhaps the tiki hut…. Fair winds, brian

You were asking about warranties and performance. Here is a website that give you the warranty information of lots of brands of panels.

http://www.wholesalesolar.com/solar-panels.html

Scroll down past the pallet panels and you will start seeing the headers for "Company","Key Points","Warranty"

You have to dig in a bit to see panel sizes but you should be able to find all the information you need here.

Thank you for all the good info... lots of good reading and then decision time.... I would really like 200 or so watts….. As I really need to keep that added ballast cold….. Simply put….. Warm beer sucks….

I have put a battery monitor in and changed all the mast lights to Led, as well as some of the cabin lights.... really nice to leave the anchor light on for 15 hours and only see 2.5 amps used…..

Thanks to all, brian

I use three Ganz semi-flexible solar panels. Two are flush mounted on the foredeck and one on the hatch. That gives me 115 watts to recharge the motive batteries for a Torqeedo electric outboard on a Capri 22.

The Ganz panels flexed along the curve of the foredeck and allow me to step on them if needed. It also gives no additional windage. The boat is on a mooring with no access to shore power.
