Hi All,

I am trying to make a solar panel mount at the stern of my 1984 Hunter 25.5. Its a 15 watt panel with aluminum frame with holes for mounting. Its already wired up with so I'm pretty much set on having it at the stern.

At this point I'm thinking of having it on the rail, does anyone know the diameter of the rail? I can't get to the boat for a couple of weeks.

I'd appreciate any other advise you may have.

Thanks.

Model of the boat would help out a bit...
From my experience unless it's a custom rail most are 3\4inch in diameter.

Hi, That's great I will look for 3\4inch clamps.

As I stated in my message its a 1984 Hunter 25.5.

Thank you.

About your solar panel

Can you give more detail on your panel. I'm looking at a 15W panel from West Marine - it measures about 40 inches long by 15 inches wide.

Did you make a mounting frame? Did you buy it? What orientation are you trying to get from your mounting? (Horizontal; a 45 degree tilt, etc.)?

I got a Instapark 15w from amazon for ~$50. Using it two group 27 batteries without a controller although I may invest in one. Its working great and keeps my batteries full. The panel is just loose in the cockpit at the moment but I need to sort that before the drop.

I will probably go round home depot and try and find something to make a suitable bracket.
