Solar Panel mount

Anybody out there using the solar panel mount pole sold here on SBO? Sounds attractive, tilt and turn. The Admiral wants a solar panel for xmas. I got her a NEW aquasignal stern light for her birthday, but this will be a big step up in presents.

A solar panel? Wow! I got my Admiral pink sailing gloves . . .

That is a nice looking mount, if a bit overkill for my little boat.

Since your address is in Florida I take it that your boat also is there. When we lived aboard and sailed our boat in the Gulf Coast area and the Keys we always had to think about hurricane problems. One of those was all deck mounted systems including our solar and wind charging systems. I don't know the size of your panel or panels but our 3 panels were approx 2ft. by 4 ft. each. Our mounts were on a "arch" type structure above the bimini. These required strapping the panel ends to prevent them flying like wings in very big blows.
If you plan to remove the panels in these conditions then there is no problem. If not, at least be sure the mount is strong enough to not rip off or bend.
