Using charts or calculators, are great cheats/hacks to avoid doing the actual calculations. You can know there is some bias built into the algorithm. You can also insert your own bias as you identify the ranges of data response.

As my friend Skipper Smokey might say... "Only you can prevent Boat Fires."

Of course the breaker is installed at the battery end of the cable, and has an AIC high enough for the amperage your battery bank can provide, right? Remember, the breaker is there to protect the cable from the virtually unlimited current the batteries can provide, not to protect the cables from the already self-limited current the controller can provide.

Correct, but only the main fuse needs to have an AIC rating in excess of the battery banks short circuit current. It will protect the downstream fuses with lower AICs.
