I have a H42 with the factory fitted Onan- great, but NOISY! No room for a normal sound enclosure, but I beleive that there are people in America that make soft sound proof enclosures- can anyone point me at one of these vendors please?

I like that it's thin, waterproof, went on real easy and great heat barrier too.
Since I don't have a generator, I don't know how well it will suppress that noise. With my 3GM30F, it's no louder that it was before with the factory installed foam insulated covering.

I have a soft cover that was made in South Florida back in 2004 or 2005 for my Northern Lights 5kw. I can't remember the name of the company and haven't been able to find on the Internet. I was told in Mobile in 2014 that there are some companies making these still. Here are photos of the frame and then with the enclosure installed. It is made of the same material that radiologists use and has vertpy heavy duty velcrow to seal the joints. It drops,the decibels about 15 to 20.

I hope you can find someone making them. If you do, please post here. I would like to contact them about maybe doing some work on my Yanmar 3GM30F. While motoring down to Florida, it is louder than we would like in the saloon.

Please keep us posted. I believe this is the same company that made mine. They were on the east coast of Southern Florida. If it is, excellent quality and going strong for 12 seasons. I have bookmarked their site for future reference.
All- i was quoted GSI -by the Fort Lauderdale people and they quoted around $1500- which seems very reasonable to me!

Even with the well designed sound shield on my Fischer Panda 12 Mini, I was not happy with the generator noise. Purchased from Defender, Soundown Sound-Stop Foam Panel 1" thickness and draped it over the generator (the generator is located in a tight space under the cabin floor). Made a huge difference, total cost under $200.00.The panels have two layers of foam with a solid layer between and really work.
I am not sure of your engine design, but many pre 2006 Yanmar engines did not have an intake silencer installed on the engine. The result is huge amounts of BASS being dumped into the boat from the intake pulses. On my 2004 I installed a 4 foot coil of SOFT wire reinforced carpet cleaner hose 1.5 inch, to the intake manifold with some standard plumbing connectors. The result was tremendous. Before the change, you could not have a conversation in the saloon, if you were motoring. Now conversations happen all the time. $20 fix. I installed this 700 hours ago, and it has not effected the engine or performance at all.
