SoCal Christmas Boat Parades

Anyone entering a boat in one of the SoCal area parades?
The wife and I were invited to view the parade from a beachside condo in 1984 (plus minus year). It was cool. This year we are thinking of taking one of the boat rides that travel with the parade. Reading the info on the web points out the parking nightmare. (Get there early and leave late)
What would you do?

Come on down to MDR theirs is on 12/12. You can park at the launch ramp for $7. Launch your boat and enjoy it from the harbor. There will also be a fireworks show. There will also be a fireworks show at the Manhattan Pier on 12/13. Its a pleasant 1 hour saill. Might even get some lobster hooping in.
