We had a great thread going last year honoring our veterans, so what happened this year? I waited to see if anyone would say anything. Maybe I'm in the wrong thread.
All I can say is WOW.

Honoring our veterans, past and present. At least I'm thinking about them and flying my stars and stripes proudly.

400K in DC today honoring veterans. Rolling Thunder. I participated in the first when 2500 showed up and then the next ten.

Keep it up,
Ctskip

We were waiting for you to start the topic! :D

All the best to our servicemen and service women.

Speedy completion of their task and prompt return home, with funding for their physical needs through the VA. They deserve it, and nothing than better than the best care. One of the things government is good for, and should do well.

We owe it to 'em all.

My sister sent me a picture of the memorial day parade and the only man standing was a wheelchair veterian when the color guard passed.

I think threads like this get moved to another off-topic area...
But here's to our Vets!

Aw, shucks. C'mon.

A patriot is one who questions authority. 'Member the start of this country?

'Member also the renewal last week of the "Patriot Act?"

How horribly misnamed.

Ben Franklin said something about that, didn't he?

Now, we can move this...

A friend just sent this to me and I think it is very cool.

This is a trailer for a full length documentary about Honor Flight. They are trying to get 50,000,000 views before Memorial Day. It's only 2 min long and you need to view the whole thing to be counted. It would really help if you watch it and send it to other folks who would enjoy it.

A Patriot

A patriot is not one who questions authority.

A patriot is one who stands up moves forward and defends your right to question authority.

Here's to all that server and who have served in the past. And a special tribute to my brother who served in the USN for 28 years and passed away this past Jan. God bless all who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Absolutly it was an Inside Job

Just like Roosevelt knew that the Japanese were on the Grassy Knoll waiting to fake the moon landing.

But here's to our Vets!
This is Memorial Day, when we remember those who've given their lives in the service of this country. Veterans Day--the day we honor the living who've served our country--is in November.

Which is not to say that we shouldn't honor those who serve and have served EVERY day...both the living and the dead. God bless them all!

Thank you, Peggy for clarifying it.
To be a bit more specific, Veterans Day is for honoring ALL veterans. Both past and present.
America would not be what it is today without our veterans.
America should bend over backwards to help the veteran.

Keep it up,
Ctskip

In our family, Memorial Day is not day of celebration, but a day of rememberance for a family member and friends who made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure our freedoms. And I don't see anything in this thread that should be relegated to the war room.

We have a US National Cemetery just a few miles away from home and we pass it often. We have a family member interred there and we visit him occasionally. The vision of thousands of headstones is a moving and sobering experience to behold. This thread was on the verge of becoming a pissing match... I am sooo glad it found its' way back to the subject du jour: Memorial Day is not about all veterans or BBQ's or pretending to be more patriotic than the other guy, it is a somber day for Remembering the men and women who gave their lives in the service of the United States of America.
