Thank God that we have sailboats. The diesel price in my area just went to $4.10 a gallon. I am hating my diesel truck right now. I usually bring my diesel in in a fuel tank. What is it costing in your areas? Your marinas?

Diesel Prices

Here in the New Orleans area pump diesel is now 3.89 per. I don't normally buy diesel at a marina, so don't know what marina prices are. Still a good thing I have some rags to put up to keep the boat moving.

In Norfolk, as of a week ago it was ~ $3.89/gal at the pump; $3.69/gal at the marina. In the Bahamas in Feb it was $5.25-$5.50/gal. On the way home from the Bahamas in late Feb the price of diesel along the US SE coast ranged from ~$4.00/gal to the lowest I found... $3.19/gal at Coinjock Marina, N.C. .... but that was 6 wks ago.

I almost hauled out at Cobb Island

Jim, I was about a half of a second from hauling out at Cobb Island. I wanted to do the work in Colonial Beach but I was afraid that I would get a haulout date. I finally got one. Getting out tomorrow. If you see a Catalina 34 in the yard up there named Finally II it is my uncle. He should be over there working on his boat soon too. Cobb Island is a nice place to visit. It is a close trip but I still go there sometimes. I really like Canoe Neck Creek and Bretton Bay. The Nomoni is cool too (not sure on the spelling there). Have you been up to the restaurant there (Steamboat Inn)?

Diesel up at this end of The Bay is about $4 at the royal farm store.

I purchase in 5 gallon cans and carry to the boat. Fuel cost is about $1 per hour for me and I sail except in close quarters.

I carry mine in...

from the truck stop. I haven't had to look yet. Luckily I only have a 20 gallon tank. I don't cherish the thought. How would you like to have a powerboat?!!!!!!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I saw diesel fuel as high as $4.50 in Nyack at a gas station.

I can't imagine what it will cost on the water; $5.25 maybe? Yikes.

Keep your eyes out for my Catalina 30 named Spirit of Liberty. Probably will see you this season (I intend to get out more this year). I am usually towing a 8' dingy called Justice. Not sure which marina my Uncle is at. He wants to get out about mid-month. We also like to go to Capt. Johns for breakfast for pancakes. It is a nice area to cruise.

Have you been to the restaurant on Canoe Neck Creek? I understand that it is pretty good but it you should take the dingy because of depth. A guy at my marina likes to go to Coles Point Plantation but I have heard that the depth is pretty sketchy up there too. Have you been there? Another nice area is Tall Timbers (Nice Ancorage). We also like to take the long trip to St. Marys.

Yeah, we dingyed over there one time and had a 45min wait time going on, so didn't eat there. Haven't been into Coles Point, but seems to have a bunch of sail boats in there. Been by land with Laura and they were expanding. Don't know if its finished yet. Like Tall Timbers, but don't like the entrance. We went in there last fall and the depth gauge showed a four foot bump but we didn't feel anything. Made us pick up our feet though. Will be looking for you. Give Java a call if you are out.

$4.10 in FT Myers Beach

four bucks on the road so $4.10 at the marina ain't too bad. Gas is $4.17 at the same marina. Filler up!

Louie

$2.89

There is a place on the bay that is still selling it for $2.89 gallon.

Just found out it isn't going down!

Gas and Diesel prices aren't going to go down anytime soon. I found out that the tax on Diesel is $.24 more expensive per gallon than the tax on gas. Hey Jim, Got the boat out of the water yesterday. I already have it sanded and one coat of paint on it. Going to get a second coat and be back in on Monday or Tuesday.
