Good for you @NLPete .

I can understand the excitment. And to add to the adventure a sailing adventure to bring your new boat home.

We look forward to all the gory/exciting details. Should be a good story.

YAY!!! When it looked like we were going to lose our 372, the Admiral started looking for a replacement and kept coming back to Tartans. And she only sails because I love it.

Congrats Pete.

Boat looks great.

Now you just need to take those power boat skills and learn to sail.

Or put in a bigger motor.

So, our new to us Tartan 35 is tucked in her berth at the Royal Newfoundland Yacht Club having traversed the 750ish NM from St Margaret’s Bay NS.

It was an epic trip up the coast of NS in 1/8 mile vis in fog the whole way. We actually anchored in beautiful Shelter Bay NS and left again in the morning having never seen shore!!

Many adventures with two old RCN buddies!

Thanks mate!
We are having a great time on the genoa alone for now, and plan on some time on the main then learning both together.
The boat is very forgiving and we have lots of help from friends. Super experience so far.
Getting her back in her berth is the hardest part so far!

We departed St Margarets Bay and took a visitor berth for a few days at the Shearwater marina. This is an air force base marina that was very friendly but has no power or water. We did some provisioning and minor repairs and set off for Shelter Bay for a night at anchor. Decent wind but vis less than 1/8 of a mile the whole way and right to the anchorage.

We left the next morning in almost zero vis and headed for Liscombe Lodge. This involved a long run up a tight river estuary in low vis but it was worth it. We draw 6.5 feet and it was no issue at all. Nice guest berth with power and water, but the laundry gear was not working and the washrooms were a bit sketchy.

The next day was another low vis run down the river and a motorsail to the locks at St Peters NS. This is the entrance to the Bras d’or lake system. Quiet overnight on the wall waiting for the locks to open in the morning. No services but a very pretty spot.
