This is one waste station that flows directly into the Chesapeake Bay. "wastewater overflow more than 2,000,000 gallons"

The Anne Arundel County Department of Health has ordered an emergency closing for Little Patuxent River and warns against wading and other direct water contact for the river south of MD Route 32. The closing is due to a power outage at Howard County’s Little Patuxent Wastewater Reclamation Plant, which caused a wastewater overflow of more than 2,000,000 gallons on October 29 and 30. The river is closed until further notice

I guess that was one of the contributing factors to this evening's high tide.

wonder what the fine will be....I bet not more than $12-15K.....if any...they will once again "promise" to do some future upgrade or else the usual....We won't let it happen again....

likely more raw sewage dumped in two days, than ALL the boats in the Bay, each with a full holding tank for the entire season...

I did the math a couple of years back using the registrations for ALL boats in DC/MD/VA and it was nothing compared to this or the other cities dumping, individually let alone several at one time.

Sad that our priorities are so skewed that this will go un challenged..and likely penalty free

You see, the EPA and their hoard of supporting groups can come after us, but not municipalities.

The EPA was sold to Americans that they were going to go after large industrial dumping of toxic wastes into the environment. I dont think that was ever their goal. Historically, they have put thousands of small businesses out of business by leveling enormous fines upon them, while the big boys continually get a free pass. Thats not even mentioning some of the legal actions they have taken against landowners for simply trying to build a house.

Boat US has me insured for $800,000 plus some change in case of an accidental fuel spill. A 22 foot boat with a 6 gallon fuel can. I bet that city doesnt spend $1 in fines for spilling over 2 million gallons of sewage.

A local university did a study for Narragansett Bay which assumed every registered boat in RI was on the bay with 4 people relieving themselves over a 24 hr period. Result? The amount of sewerage was not measurable. All emotion, no science at EPA.
