Im still trying to make sense of my new to me oday 25-and its electrical system. Ok so basically Ive got two batteries-one for starting the engine and one for everything else-regulated by four way switch.(1,2,both,off). Then I have a circuit panel that turns on my cabin lights, nav lights, deck lights, and auxilary (which turns on the depthfinder,vhf, and supposedly the stereo which I cant get to work). I was a little worried that I didnt have an anchor light switch but after reading a little realized that all I have to do is hang a lantern from somewhere and that is adequate for anchor light. Does anybody know what the deck lights switch is for. The cabin lights work, the running lights work minus the mastlight(not sure why), and the gadgets fed off the auxiliary work minus the radio(not sure why)..cant figure out what the deck lights do?

The O'Days have a fairly simple electrical system and the only item you didn't mention is your steaming light. "Deck lights" may be your steaming light circuit.
On the middle of the mast, you should have a steaming light for when you are under power at night. A lot of times these lights have the nav. light and a light that aims down and illuminates the spreaders and/or deck. My guess would be it is that switch, just mislabeled. Check to see if you have a steaming light circuit - you should have a wire that runs up on deck next to the mast step for this and if you've got an electrical tester you can check the circuit when you turn the switch. ok so I figured everything out..the switch is actually not called deck light..I dont know why I thought thats what it said..its actually a bow light and yes it turns the steaming light on and off...thanks
