So HERE you are!

I leave town for a few days and look what happens!

I had a great time in Florida. I got to meet and spend some time
with Lynn and Warren Fischer in Miami. They picked me up in Fort
Lauderdale and took me to see their boat, Sunda V405. The real treat
though was spending some time with Florence Rosen in Orlando. What a
delightful lady. It turns out that I'll be going back to Orlando next
year at this time, again on business, so I promised to stop in for
another visit. Good news for AVA members; Florence gave me some AVA
Burgees that Sidney had so I have samples to get more made from and a
few available for immediate sale ($20 including postage in North
America - AVA Members only please). These are the "V Star" Burgees,
white on red about 11" by 16"

I wanted to delay the next issue of the newsletter until I got back
so I could include this news so It will be going out, hopefully by
next weekend. This issue will include the first installment of Nick
and Jenny Coghlan's reccomendations for preparing the Vega for
extended offshore cruising.

More good news - my boss has approved my purchase of Adobe Acrobat
4.0 so I will be able to post the newsletter archives here in the
files section (I should probably make sure of that but I don't see
why not) I will most likely keep the archives about three issues
behind the current publication in deference to the paying
membership. Any feedback from the members on this is welcome. Also,
if I ever get the VODCA Maintenance Manual converted I'll poll the
membership to see if they want to make that availble on-line as
well. Frankly, I'd like to do it. It beats the cost and trouble of
getting it printed and mailing it out through the post office.

Apologies to the new members to whom I have (still) not sent The
Book. I have not forgotten but I have been rather busy. I will do
everything in my power to send it out with the newsletter next week.

Aloha,

Chuck Rose
