Snubber or bridle when anchoring?

So, based on an argument in another thread, I thought I just put it out there, as a poll question, if you will:

Does using a rope snubber or bridle with an all-chain rode lower the effective attachment point of the chain to the boat?

If yes, please explain how.

I had a problem understanding your reasoning in the first place.... seems kind of anal to me.... but, for the record, a snubber is simply a shock absorber between chain and boat and doesn't affect the rode angle.. Can't really comment on the merits of a bridle since it could function in a number of ways... so I will take RichH's side in your pissing contest because he's a proven authority here, and.... he has a damn cool boat.

I remember the post and I tried the bridle method on a mooring ball by attaching a dock line to a pendant line. This line was lead back to a mid-ship cleat while the second pendant line was attached to a bow cleat. The result from this one set-up was the bow was pointing slightly off wind. The mid-ship line would rub the side of the boat while it was under strain. It would ease when the strain was on the bow line. There appeared to be less sailing at anchor but the wind wasn't steady to call it conclusive.

I haven't had a chance to try the bridle on our all chain rode since we've been busy breakin' and fixin'. This may require more than a handful of attempts before you can make a call.

JV, my understanding of RichH's bridle is that each end is attached to points on opposite sides of the boat with at least one end further aft (like mid-ships). Attaching it at midships lowers the angle of the rode. If you attach the bridle at or near the bow, I don't think it will make a difference as to angle of attachment, but further aft will.
