Does anybody remember where I saw the info on a do it yourself SNUBA set up? I can not remember.

Sure could Ross! Its like scuba but you leave the tanks at the surface and you dive using a long hose connected to the tanks - at least that is how I understand it.

Why would you do it yourself? Seems to me your family that you leave behind when your rig fails will have no one to sue.........

What do you want to make the,hose,regulator,tank.
Any dive shop or internet can get you all thee above.
Or do mean a Hookah system,compresser,hose,regulator,same place a dive shop,internet and also learn about diving.
Be safe due it right,take the dive course,don't need to get certified,unless you will be diving deep.

A few years back I bought a 40' hose at the dive store. That allowed me to leave the tank on the boat and go under for maintenance such as bottom cleaning, etc. You still have to take the tank to be refilled, have it inspected annually, hydro tested every five years, etc.

A couple of years ago I bought a Thompson oil-less electric compressor that replaces the tank. No more refills, etc. I can run off shore power at the dock or with the generator when anchored. Works great.

You do need to get certified to do any diving. It's your life at stake.

Any dive shop can make you up a long hose. We use long hoses from the boat down to the deco hang bar in case somebody is running short on deco. It's easier than hanging tanks off the bar.

Just make sure that the air intake is not near your diesel exhaust.
Really..... People die every year from home made recreational products.
I have been a diver for over 20 years - I would NEVER jury rig life supplying air.

Hey, Guy, will you please define "jury rig." Can't tell what set-up you think would be okay, and what set-up you would not use.
