Snow in Maine

We've had a little up this way.

It's strange to stand on deck inside the shed and see the shadow of the snow about level with the cabin top.

The pattern has changed a bit in recent years but, historically, our peak snow season has just begun.

Fifty years ago when I was stationed at Bangor we were told that 9 feet was the planned for snow fall each winter.

I believe we've had over 5' this season so far. (Boston) 10-15" yesterday depending on the area.

What a winter. I visited my boat as I knew that the storms were coming and that I needed to tighten up my boom tent to better shed snow. I'm glad I did it. Sorry Roger, but I am never moving to Maine. The sailing season is short enough down here as it is.

Sweet !!!! Tell everyone you can!!! Oh and don't forget about the constant thick fog, granite ledges that eat boats for lunch and the lobster pots you can walk across bays on... Maine really sucks now go tell everyone not to come!!

I actually enjoy winter, but by this time of the year I am sick of it.

Now boys ,where else can you sail and ski .The way I look at it we have 4.5 months of skiing 6 months of sailing .I even get a month of golf in at the edges .

Although I did not take advantage, our skiing and sailing season overlapped last fall. The major ski areas were in operation before I pulled my boat at Thanksgiving.
