Snarky Boat Names

I'm still pondering what to name my C-22. I'm leaning toward something funny, a little tongue in cheek... because honestly I just can't see naming my little boat anything 'epic'. Something that raises an eyebrow but not too offensive (I mean really, there are children out there sailing too).

So one of my ideas was 'Knot a Snot', obviously a jab at the Yacht Club crowd, lol.
My favorite name that I saw on another boat was "She Got The House"

Feel free to throw out any ideas or pictures of other boats with Snarky names.

I'm in the market as were . Colonial Beach
I thought that it would be funny to name a boat Mr. Yuk and put one of those obnoxious stickers on it and maybe a big one on the sail. Come to think of it having a huge one on a spinnaker could attract a lot of attention! Just my warped sense of humor.

Remember whatever you name it, when someone hails you on the radio the protocol is that they say the name 3 times. Try that with any name choice you are thinking about to see if you really want it.

I once heard a radio call to a boat named "Crack of Noon". Hail that 3 times. Makes a good wake up call too.

I have always liked "A Salt Weapon".

But your username "Cloud Diver" would make a decent boat name

Have you noticed a little website at the bottom of this page entitled "10,000 boat names"?

Gotta be some snark in there.

I always look at it from that angle. I always tease my sailing buddy i'm gonna rename the boat "ha" or "ho" or "yuk" so he sounds like an idiot every time he calls me.

I would suggest that any name you choose will be easily understood via the VHF for boat to boat or bridge tenders to understand.

I would choose a name that not only fits your style but also, a name when heard compliments your vessel rather than a name that might seem undeserving.

Take the name of my boat TIEKILI, it was a documented boat & it took me awhile before I found out what it meant. I visioned Greek folklore, avian etc. Much to my shock it was, "I like it" spelled backwards. After the shock of this left me, I kinda liked the name.

Now, when folks on my boat having a good time say, "I like it," I say, "Hey, that's my boat name backwards!"

Take your time, you will find the best name. How about "Queen...girlfriend or wife's" name?

A guy I knew had a non-sailor wife. In order help here get acclimated to the sailing lingo, he named his boat "LIPRIS" (left is port, right is starboard).

Excellent advice. Also, it should come through clearly on the radio.

Bearing that in mind, I'd be tempted to name my boat Rollin', but maybe it's because I grew up watching Rawhide...
