Snaps on MacGregor 26X Cockpit Cushions

I broke out the cockpit cushions for the first time during my third voyage of my 2002 26X. They are comfortable. I got these cushions from MacGregor. I noticed that they all have female snaps on one side of them, yet there are no male snaps on the cockpit seats or seatbacks. Do I put the male staps on the boat myself? Should MacGregor supply me with those male snaps or am I on my own.Thanks for reading,Sam Kramer

Mine weren't installed either

The male snaps are normally installed by your dealer. Mine didn't install them either, and when I asked him why, he said that they're just another potential source of leaks and that the cushions will stay in place quite well without them.They do seem to stay in place pretty well, but I'm concerned with what might happen if the wind gets stiff; I'd be worried about them taking off on me. Of course, not having them snapped down makes them a lot easier to remove and stow; maybe a bit of industrial-strength velcro is all that's really needed.--  - Jeff Drumm, '02 26X -- "Wasabe"

Cushions

One day when you try to take the cushions up with the snaps installed....they will pull through. IF you have that much wind to worry about, you're probably going to have a ton of wind and that equals spray....you don't want your cushions getting wet.....the foam will suck it up.

Velcro is Perfect for Seat Cushions

I picked up my new 26X and noticed the boat side of the cushion snaps were in a plastic bag instead of on the boat. I questioned the dealer and he said that it was a leak source and that he had been asked by some owners to remove the clips. So he stopped putting them on.. said he would if I wanted them, but said many folks use velcro. Anyway, went to Home Depot and they have some industrial velcro there that does it.. the stuff is wicked but you can "rip off" the cushions at the end of the day and just toss them on the aftberth. And if it does rain the velcro foundation pieces are not affected.
