I just tie it to the stern pulpit and ladder with the tow bridle. Only takes a couple of minutes.Robert
How do you attach the dinghy to your transom? We have a 1988 Legend and want to bring our 14.5 Kayak with us.
I think the longest was about 9 days up at Catalina and along the Pacific Coast. It is a handy liferaft to have already deployed.Rick,
If you drag yours how long of a trip do you sail for with it back there?
I thought the idea of the snap(weaver) davits was that I could have the dinghy lifted out of the water while sailing and when in the marina.I think the longest was about 9 days up at Catalina and along the Pacific Coast. It is a handy liferaft to have already deployed.
Not to get away from the purpose of this post though. The snap davits would probably work, but if they do not get the dinghy out of the water at rest to keep the scum from building up, then I dont see the point.
Thanks Seadaddler,That is the reason why I am going to add weaver snap davits and that is what I have seen on a few boats with the weaver davits hanging off the stern of a sailboat not just powerboats.
My reason is it will give the option of carrying my 9'6'' dinghy on my stern sailing which is 12' wide and be able to keep the dinghy out of the water at the marina,at this time I do back in stern first and it will make it hard to use the walk through transom but that would also happen if I had regular davits and so my solution is the otion to do or not depending on the situation at the time,I do regularly tie my dinghy up side ways on the stern but the weaver davits will be a better and so much easier way of doing this.
