We would like to snake a wire down the mast of our new-to-us 2001 Beneteau 411 to support the addition of a combo LED tri-color/anchor light. Has anyone done this and if so, how difficult was it? Any tricks? Thanks
Pete

I have pulled halyards using an electrician's fish tape with the mast down.
Wiring is a little different. There is a conduit inside the mast that goes all the way to the masthead and another that goes has high as the steaming light. If you are really fortunate there will be a messenge line inside each of thes conduits that can be used to pull a wire through. Just pull another messenger line with it so that you have one if needed in the future.

You might be able to use the old wiring to pull in a new wire as an alternative as well. The main thing is that you will want to keep the wire inside the conduit so that it doesn't rattle around inside the mast or interfere with halyards if they are led inside the mast.

You haven't indicated whether you are going to attempt to do this with the mast down or standing.

Thanks Doug. We will do it with the mast standing.
