I have purchased a 1986 O'Day 322 this year. The smoke gray plastic fixed ports on the boat have turned "white" (they are still "gray" where the dodger had covered parts of them). The good news, you can still see through the ports from the inside of the boat... the bad news, they do not look very nice from the outside. (1) Can the white surface be buffed out? (2) Any products you can recommend for this? (3)Will we still be able to see through the fixed ports after we buff them out?

Try Vinegar First

Depending on what the ports are made of, a vinegar rinse, followed by fresh water, might remove some of the white. If it works, it will improve the visibility through the ports. If not, Meguir's (sp) makes a polish for plastic-type ports.
