Last season my 1986 Volvo Penta 2002 (600 Hrs) raw water cooled engine overheated a few times (very briefly) due to, I assume, blocked water passages which I flushed with an e-safe product - which seems to have worked. However on re-commissioning I am now getting a lot of blue smoke and a very small amount of oil in exhaust (particularly on idle after running at 2200 RMP) and on acceleration. I am thinking of taking the head off, clearing any remaining crud from the water jacket. Do you think that a blown head is the cause of the smoke etc or do you think its something more like rings or valve seals?Any feedback is appreciated, thanks.
