Holding tank deoderant

When you flush you stir up the holding tank. The gases created will exit the vent pipe which if your holding tank is near your cockpit will be noticed right away. You will probably notice the same when you are traveling in heavy seas. The only answer is to add hoding tank deoderant at least daily. You will have to figure out much by trial and error

Check in the forums menu of this site you will find a forum called "The head mistress"......the head being that stinky thing on your boat... the answers are there and any other questions she can answer. I wish I had known about this when we had our motorhome .....Marcie

Read the artical in the Head Mistress forum called

"Controlling Odor in Holding Tanks." And if you still have questions, I'll be glad to answer them. (And btw, Steve...it should NOT be necessary to add a "deodorant" at least every day.)

Holding Tank Smell??????

I thought all holding tanks had a disagreeable smell. All septic tanks smell.

Holding tanks shouldn't BE septic tanks, Sam...

And if you read the article "Controlling Odor in Holding Tanks," you'll understand the difference and the principles which dictate why septic tanks stink and holding tanks shouldn't. And after you've read it, I'll be glad to answer all the questions I'm sure it's gonna give rise to.
