Smaller Helm

I own a 420 Center cockpit. It gets a bit tight trying to get around the helm in the cockpit. Maybe I should shed some of my 290 lbs (I am dealing with that on another forum).This last weekend I was at The Long Beach boat show and toured a new 420. This boat had a smaller helm and it made it quite easy to get around. Maybe they changed the helm just for the show? Does anyone think there might be a negative reason to not replace my helm?

No Reason Not To

John, I was at the LB show this weekend too. Isn't that new 420 beautiful? Unless something else comes along to knock my socks off, that'll be my next boat.As far as the wheel, I can't think of a good reason to not go with a smaller one. At 290, you shouldn't have any problems handling the thing in any weather. I was bidding on a 28" wheel on ebay, I lost out, it went for $55.00
