I have a 1992 Hunter 28 with a split backstay. Has anyone fabricated a small sail that is used when at anchor to keep the boat pointing into the wind better? If so, did you make it yourself or buy it, how big is it and how do you attach it to the split backstay? Thanks.

Try sailrite.com

It is sold as a "kit" but easy to put together. If you know someone who sews, there are good instructions included. I believe it's called a "riding" sail. We have a 320 and do not have a backstay, so need to devise a more ingenious way to attach --- but they work!
