Small pit in deck

I have a 94 Hunter 26' and the last time I picked the boat up from storage it looked like someone had been painting and coated all vertical surfaces with a fine mist of black paint. On closer inspection it looks like I have thousands of tiny pits in the gel coat of the non-skid decking. They are spaced randomly and were not there two weeks ago when I brought the boat home to work on it. Has anyone had this problem and what would it take to fix it? I don't want to spend another 36 hours scrubing the deck. Can I seal the deck with a wax or gel coat application of some sort? I have been waiting for a new mast and it will finally be here on Friday so I want to get back in the water soon. Carl S/V Wind Shadow PS. I have a number of the Island Girl products but was unable to determine which on to try with damaging the surface. Any help would be appreciated.

Try Tilex

I had this on my old boat and all it is is fungus that most detergents won't remove. r.w.landau

Small pits in deck

Do I need to seal the deck with anything to keep it from happening again. I would think that having so many small pits would not be good. Thanks. Carl S/V Wind Shadow (new mast in the mail :))

Pits on deck

Carl, I agree with R.W.. I have the same condition from time to time. Try a product called XL 14 mildew remover, it works wonders for me. $3.00 at your supermarket. Spray it on hose it off.

Filling the pits

Last fall I purchased a 31 which had some of the non-skid points open. which created the pits. I cleaned the area as best i could with detergent and applied a Gelcoat patch to the individual pits. I used a premixed tube I purchased from West Marine. The tube has a small opening and makes it easy to apply one drop at a time. I had close to 60 of the pits and only took me 15 min to fill them all. It made it though a very cold and wet winter. This spring the pits are still filled. I do not know how long it will last, but you can only tell it was patch if you know it id there.
