I just got my boat in after repowering with a vetus 16HP diesel. I also did a whole list of other stuff to the boat. One thing I did not do was take the old caulking off around the keel to hull connection and recaulk. I noticed that I have a small leak around the keel bolts. Dry up front, dry in the engine area. I have a sump pump to take care of the water but is this a problem with hunters? Is there another way to take care of the leak now that the boats in the water? If I caulk around the keel next fall does this usually take care of the problem? My old boat was a dry boat and if I can I want this one to be dry too.

Try tightening

You can try tightening the bolts in the water. I removed one at a time and used 4200 under the washers and retightened. This problem is common to all boats with bolted on keels, not just Hunters. Royce
