I am looking for a SMALL rigid fiberglass dinghy to tow behind my H25. It should be less than 7-1/2 ft, stable without being too wide, not particularly heavy (able to be winched aboard by one guy via mainsheet tackle) and easy to row. I do not care for a hard-chined pram and would like instead a more classic-looking one like a miniature Whitehall.
At one point I knew of some company who made one about 6-1/2 ft but cannot remember who now. We had one at the Cherubini yard but the guy who bought its mother ship finally did come and take it home (pout). As it was no longer manufactured I considered making a mold off it. It had a nearly-plumb bow and wide wineglass stern, a centerboard trunk and long teak strakes on the bottom, but it was heavy (like 100 lbs).
I do not care to sail it as my regular 'yacht' is only 25 ft and I'd rather sail that. Mostly I will use it by myself going to and from the shore. I can use the Avon if I need to carry more people or more cargo.
I have looked at Fatty Knees, the Cherub, et al., and like them but cannot afford them. So I would prefer a used one.
If anyone knows of a type I should look for, or of an example that is actually available, do let me know. I will drive like 300 miles for one (I could use the vacation anyway). Post or email. Thanks.
