Small Engine Flush - options

Hi All - I have a small 3.5 Tohatsu 2-stroke on my dingy that I use in salt water and wanted to ask folks here how anyone with similar sized engines go about flushing them out with fresh water. I currently use a bucket of fresh water I run the motor in after use but it gets clunky and cumbersome to manage. My version engine also does not have neutral/gear-shifting so the prop spins in the bucket at idle which adds to the hassle...

Do they make an ear-muff style product similar to what I see for larger engines? Or any product specific for flushing these small engines? I've been searching around online and can't seem to find anything.

I have the F-N shift model branded as Nissan and I just do what you do- run it in a bucket. However, given your model with no neutral, I would get a large plastic garbage can and cut the lid to let the outboard stick into it. A minimal amount of water should come out if the lid is cut tight enough.

Stick it under a gutter downspout and be "green"!

Too bad there wasn't some sort of port or inlet on the small outboards that permitted connecting up and selecting a freshwater source so that you could flush it anywhere...

On my 9.9 (I know it is bigger, but the point...) I disconnect the pee tube and connect my water hose to that, then back flush. Make sure you remove the thermostat (if you have one) so water goes through all the channels. I purchased some reducing hose fittings at Home Depot and tubing just for this project. It seems to work well enough.
