Small amount of water in the head "bathroom"

I have discovered a small amount of water pooled on the floor of the head "bathroom". I have a 1982 27' Catalina. The water appears to be freshwater, not saltwater of course. When you enter the head the leak is to your immediate right in the corner. I'm wondering if there is some way water can travel down a mast and into the cabin. The Catalina rep said that the mast doesn't extend into the cabin. I have repaired some leaks around the cabin windows in the main cabin area and that fixed a leak occuring there. Any ideas on where this water might be coming from? I don't think it is coming from the toilet itself.

Mast doesn't, but wires do

While your source is correct - the mast doesn't extend into the cabin/head, the wires inside the mast - for your anchor and running lights - do. They penetrate the cabin top and (I'm not sure exactly) either run down inside the post inside the head. Any evidence of water along that post? Good Luck! Tim Brogan April IV C350 #68 Seattle

Not in the compression post,

What Tim said applies to the C30's and up only, if your wiring is still the factory configuration, it does not penetrate the lining or run into the compresion post. The only time I found water there on our C27, it had come in through the chainplate and traveled along the edge of the bulkhead before being deposited where you are finding it. Resealing your chainplates may resolve the issue for you. EG

Will check out your ideas

I'm really thinking the water is coming from maybe a hand rail, chain plate or other piece of hardware. Is there anyway water can get in the top of the mast or in the mast somehow and then travel down and into the cabin. I can't see how the wires go thru the mast and then into the cabin? They do somehow I just cant see because its inside the mast. There is a drilled hole close to the bottom of the mast that was uncovered that I covered with duct tape a few weeks ago and I'm still getting some water. I'm going to try to really see where this water is coming from? Who would I even call to come look at this? Its kind of bothersome. Thanks!!!!

head leak

Hi Pres, I had water gathering up by the head in my C-25 and came to find that the hose that drains my anchor locker had developed a crack. It's a long shot for you I think, but who knows:) Dave
