on my last outing i found about 1" of water under the forward port seat where the keel lock down bolt is. i pumped it out and in a few hours it was back up to the same level but not any more, even after being in the water for two days. i can't seem to find the source. i've heard that if you back the bolt out to far while in the water it may leak, but i don't think i did that. could water be coming in from the keel lock? how would i fix that? other ideas....? also anyone near the tacoma area know of or want to start a "fleet"?(haven't gotten a response from Cat Assoc of Puget Sound)

hello brian, the 1977 catalina owners manual reads " the lock down bolt should be kept heavily greased with marine grease designed not to wash away in salt or freash water. this grease will stop any slight leak through the threads of the bolt ". or try filling the bilge with and look under it for water leaking out. i have found that diong this showed a leaking knot meter through hull fitting in that area.

The slow leak can come from the keelbolt, also from above or below and end up there. We used to get some water sloshing around and it worked it's way up there. It came from the lower rudder bracket. You cannot see this one leak because there is a liner.
