Slotted or Phillips ?

I am surprised that the dovetail slot and the offset cruciform is missing. We use the offset cruciform a lot here at work.

Don't use Slot or Phillips. I've replaced all of them with Robertson or Allen key hex socket. Do you remember how they had such a hard time replacing components on the Hubbel upgrade mission a few years ago? Some idiot assembled the original using Phillips machine screws.

I read a while back, I think it was a suggestion by Main Sail, to use Allen Head machine screws, either socket head or round head. You can easily cut the short end the allen head wrench shorter, then tape the long end down using Gorilla tape when putting screws through the deck. Then from the inside you can install the nuts and use a power driver to tighten them without a helper. Worked well for me.
