Greetings,

I hope everyone is getting ready for the holidays and enjoying autumn.

I wanted to get a little feedback. I changed the name that appears at the header of every page. It used to read "949.reno2.com" and now reads "
949 - a forum for Alden yachts". The reason I did this is that a google search for "Alden Challenger" lists this site as number two but the link description is not very informative. With the new name, people should be able to find us in a list of web results a little easier.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

Best Regards,
David

It sounds good to me David, thanks for doing it and taking care of this. We need all the help we can get to drum up interest. How is your family and are you seeing the window ahead(it's there) that will allow you to look at boats again?

Thanks for the feedback. All is well for us here on the east coast. We just bought a house and I'm back into fixing one emergency after the other!

Trying to decide now what to do about sailing. 45 minutes away is the "New Castle Sailing Club" (http://www.newcastlesailingclub.org) which would be a very affordable way to sail. That might be the smart thing to do for a couple of years. Until my 201k gets back up to 401k, I'm not sure if it's a good idea for me to drop too much money into owning a boat again in the short term. Then again, logic goes out the door when the right "opportunity" presents itself.

Best Regards and Happy Thanksgiving,
David

David,

What fun to hear that you're on the east coast and living around here! As it happens, I'm the architect for the Historic Area Commission of the City of New Castle, DE. I learned to sail on my dad's Flying Dutchman back in the late '50s, launched from a now-long-gone marina that was south of the New Castle Sailing Club's moorings. I've loved the look of Thistles ever since seeing them regularly at the Club. Another FD sailing buddy used to sail those Thistles with his dad back in the '60s. I've spoken with some of the folks active there and they are quite pleasant.
